Why choose Recycled?

About 49 percent of the world’s clothing is made of polyester and forecasts show this to nearly double by 2030. But polyester is not a sustainable textile option, as it is made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), the most common type of plastic in the world. In short, the majority of our clothes come from crude oil.

Recycled polyester, also known as rPET, is obtained by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fibre. To give an example, five water bottles yield enough fibre for one T-shirt.

Recycled polyester gives a second life to non-biodegradable materials by reusing plastics from landfills or the ocean.
And it has almost the same quality as virgin polyester, but uses 59 per cent less energy than virgin polyester.

JR's Recycled Polyester Yarn

JR uses 100% recycled polyester waste (e.g. mineral water bottles, polyester product waste) as raw material, which is crushed, cleaned, dried, melted and spun.

The quality of recyled is no different from virgin polyester.
